MorningStar is Hosting a Renowned Dementia Specialist

At MorningStar of Boulder, we strive to provide the finest memory care.  To help us accomplish this, our entire team continues to educate themselves on all facets of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.  By gaining a deeper understanding of the disease, we can create more effective ways to care for our most tender residents. 

We are proud to announce the MorningStar communities are hosting “A Day with Teepa Snow,” the international dementia care specialist, on July 24^th at the Valor Center Performance Hall in Highlands Ranch, CO.  This exclusive event is designed for private caregivers, healthcare professionals and families affected by the disease and will consist of a morning and afternoon session.  Families and private caregivers will pay $10 for one session or $15 for both.  For healthcare professionals, the cost is $45 for one session or $60 for both. Reservations are a must and doors will open ½ hour before each session.    

The morning session is from 9:00AM – 12:00PM and covers the following topics:  “Supportive vs Confrontational Communication” and “How Lifelong Personality Traits Affect Behaviors.”  This session slightly favors family members.  In the afternoon, topics include “How to Be an Advocate and Partner” and "Humor and Caregiving.” The session is from 1:00PM – 4:00PM and slightly favors healthcare professionals. 

If you are unfamiliar with Teepa Snow, she is today’s “Voice for Dementia Care,” and is considered one of the world’s leading advocates and educators for those living with dementia as well as for their families and care partners.  Teepa developed the GEMS® classification model and the Positive Approach® to Care training strategies that are based on her extensive education, experience, medical research and caregiving.
