A Truly Moving & Enlightening Experience with Teepa Snow

On July 24^th, MorningStar Senior Living was honored to present Teepa Snow, the internationally acclaimed dementia care expert.  With 400 people in attendance at the Valor performance Center in Denver, we all sat in rapt attention listening to Teepa’s inspiring and empowering day of dementia education from “The Master.”

Both family members and senior living professionals shared the event together as we all laughed, cried, and felt our fears fall away as “Ah-ha” moments came, one after the other.  As Teepa deftly imparted the knowledge, resolve and courage that are at the very heart of the dementia journey, she shattered the myths and candidly spoke to the audience.        

From where many of our lavender-clad MorningStar ambassadors sat, we were able to see the crowd’s lively engagement, which touched our hearts.  One woman who attended the event with her husband, and suffers from memory loss herself, listened closely to Teepa’s words.  At one point, she leaned over to another MorningStar team member and whispered, “Yes, that’s all true. I do forget my words.”

As one of the leading educators on dementia and the care that accompanies it in the US and Canada, Teepa has over forty years of clinical practice as an occupational therapist.  She is the founder of the Positive Approach® to Care (PAC) that was created to support and engage people experiencing changes in their brain function.  The approach emphasizes “making use of the skills retained while providing support, and substituting our skill, for what is no longer available.”
